How Our Kitchen Works

A Warm Meal and a Seat at the Table

Every weekday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, GWIM's Soup Kitchen serves freshly prepared, nutritionally balanced hot meals to anyone who walks through the door. On weekends, we provide bag lunches — Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Meals are prepared under the direction of our Head Chef, with nutrition guidance from Registered Dietitian Ashley DeBella Marques, DCN, MS, RDN. Meals accommodate food allergies, medical conditions, and religious dietary needs. Our 52 member congregations rotate kitchen duty, supported by 1–4 community volunteers per shift.

More Than a Meal

A Safe Space for Our Neighbors

GWIM's Soup Kitchen is more than a place to eat. For many of our guests, it's a safe haven from the outside world — a place to sit down, be treated with respect, and connect with people who care.

Our staff and volunteers know many guests by name. For seniors living alone, for people experiencing homelessness, for families stretching every dollar — this kitchen is their kitchen.

Through our Resource Center, guests can also access connections to housing support, healthcare, benefits assistance, legal aid, and employment referrals — all under one roof. We work closely with StayWell Health Center, Brian Gibbons Homeless Outreach, and Legal Aid on Central Avenue.
